The cabinet and the prime minister Sheikh Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah have submitted their resignations to the emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah after revelations of corruption surfaced within the government once again. Six previous governments have collapsed due to similar reasons but this time the crowds are imitating the regional phenomenon of the Arab Spring and using slogans calling for revolution and overthrow. The former prime minister cited disunity and inability to pass legislation as the reasons for tendering his resignation. Until a new government can be formed the emir has asked the prime minister and his cabinet to remain at their posts.
