Acura Retooling the ILX Based on Consumer Feedback

Acura’s version of the successful and legendary Honda Civic, the ILX, has turned in an unimpressive performance for its first model year and will be reworked according to consumer feedback. Honda, desperate to make the Acura brand a contender against such stalwarts like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, will begin offering the Acura ILX with an automatic transmission and a 2.5 liter V6 engine based upon consumer requests for such a configuration. Currently the ILX offers the V6 with a manual transmission, another rarity in the increasingly tech-heavy world of automobiles. It was rumored that the ILX was intended to replace Acura’s TSX. Because it has only achieved half of its expected annual sales goal of 30,000 units, the model will not replace the TSX any time soon.
